Being the only girl on the men's crew team/why I stick with it, 2. My love for languages Teacher Recommendation: Junior English teacher, Japanese teacher -- both have known me since freshman year Counselor Rec: My regular school counselor who has known me well since I started high school. Additional Rec: Crew coach, known me since sophomore year. Interview: Went okay; it was my first interview and the interviewer was obviously new to the process as well. Other- Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes

Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Great-uncle was 20-year faculty member, good number of relatives went to Yale. (However they are fairly distantly related to me.) Reflection- Strengths: Japanese, crew
Weaknesses: Grades (I got a C in math sophomore year), scores (they're much lower than most of the people here at CC), too cool for New Haven, etc. Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I was hoping to get athletic support and be potentially recruited. That didn't end up working out, so I was pretty much expecting to be rejected. Fortunately I'm already in at another good school, so if my other apps don't work out I'll be perfectly happy closer to home. General Comments: Congratulations to everyone who was accepted!
