Its recomended. But not required. This is from the mechanical engineering website.

Quote:
With respect to the last factor, academic record, the Department favorably views those students with a proven record of excellence in math, science, and engineering. In addition, the following factors generally increase the prospects of being admitted:

Completed a minimum of 12 Semester Credit Hours of core math/science courses from the CBK (Common Body of Knowledge). These CBK course are: ENGR 111, ENGR 112, MATH 151, MATH 152, PHYS 218, PHYS 208, CHEM 107, and ENGL 104. Course descriptions can be found at Welcome To the Registrar
Its not required that you complete it, but it will certainly help.

As for your comment about auto admit. I found this on the ESSAP website for transfers.
Quote:
Carefully review the recommended courses to take (found in the two tables, Track B or D, in Catalog 130, pg. 54). Successfully complete 24 credit hours from these tables, Track D (for most engineering majors) or B (for computer science) and have a 3.0 cumulative GPR. This is required for automatic admission into the college of engineering. Minimum GPR required for transfer admission to the University is cumulative 2.25 on 24 graded semester hours of transferable course work at the time of the application.
I dont know though. I never heard of an auto admit. Maybe there is...
