Fairfield & Scranton are Jesuit (catholic) schools, rated within top 10 Masters universities USNWR. Both have core curriculums that include theology, etc. Fairfield is not far from QU, in a lovely wealthy community, an hour to the city by train. Scranton is in Scranton, PA. Both are comparable in size to QU & pricetag- perhaps a little cheaper. Both are known for upper middle class kids, little diversity & partying mostly drinking. Hofstra is in LI and is known to be good for some programs, not all. Population is more diverse there and drugs seem to be more prevalent than QU, FU & U of S. Hofstra students have been making the news lately with drug busts galore, car jackings, etc.
Rutgers- flagship state u- larger classes, but good reputation- diverse.
hope that helps.
