Check out the NCSU student bookstore webpage. They have a section with info. about computers at NCSU.
We ordered S's laptop (IBM Thinkpad then.. now called Lenovo) through the bookstore. If you buy one of the recommended brands (fr. them or anywhere else), the NCSU IT dept. can help you with any computer snags. I think someone actually came to S's dorm room freshman year to fix a prob. He has been using his laptop for four years now with virtually no problems
