First of all, congrats to everyone who got in, and I'm really sorry to those who did not.

I am really excited(weird huh). I seriously thought that my application would've been flat-out rejected. Now before anyone says anything, I'd like to put myself within context because many feel that minorities have the "easy way out." First off, I'm not even from Boston; I'm originally from Texas. I stayed there until my sophomore year. However during my freshman year, I had to follow my parents to the janitorial service jobs. Every Friday, my parents would take my brother and I to this gas station/Wendy's at 12 o'clock at night. We would help them sweep and mop. On Sundays it was even worse. My father had suffered from many strokes and could not do the work so I had to vacuum sixteen rooms and sweep a huge warehouse. My mother at this time was working double shifts at a nursing home and soon contracted sarcoma cancer. We were forced to move to Boston and stay with my aunt. After a year, we moved from shelter to shelter and finally to the projects we currently reside in that has a rep for murders and shootings.

I know that I'll probably get blasted for even being deferred but I wanted to give hope to those who are in situations like mine.
