Subjective
  • Essays: very honest.
  • Teacher Recs: very good
  • Counselor Rec: generic, although it did say MIT was my first choice
  • Supplementary Material: filled out all the optional essays (with the completely optional one about how much I wanted to go to MIT), also a recommendation from the staff of WTP
  • Hook(recruited athlete, legacy, Nobel Prize): I dropped out of college at 14? (long story) I don’t know. I hope it was my willingness to be honest that won them over.
Personal
  • Location: WA
  • High School Type: huge, mediocre public
  • Ethnicity: white
  • Gender: female
Other
  • Extracurriculars: theater, student government, newspaper, science olympiad
  • Awards: lots of theater awards, nothing huge, national merit semifinalist, ap scholar
  • Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?: I pretty much did “everything wrong” and got into MIT.
