Ejection seats are most often the ONLY way for a pilot to get out of a jet aircraft in flight. Not having an ejection seat forces the pilot of a disabled plane to look for a suitable place to make a crash landing. I.E., away from populated areas. Pretty smart thinking.

It’s against federal law for a civilian plane to fly supersonic in U.S. airspace. The Concord never went supersonic in U.S. airspace.
