@ Lockn, I don't think the main reason sex was prohibited before marriage is because of the possibility of an unstable family (in the Christian religion), although that probably was a secondary concern. The Bible mainly forbids it because it can be seen as adultery - If you have sex with somebody that you are not married to, and end up having sex with another person once you actually DO get married, then you've had sex with 2 different people and that is essentially committing adultery.
