So glad that you've heard from your daughter.
My son travels internationally frequently and we have an agreement that he will use the airport ATM as soon as he lands - assuming that the airport has an ATM. The withdrawal usually posts on the U.S. bank account a day later and that's when I find out that he has landed safely. It's not as good as a phone call, but it works for us.
