| Actually the answer to #6 is 12.
If the ratio of white eggs to brown eggs is 2/3, that means that:
A) the ratio of white eggs to TOTAL eggs is 2/5 (2/ [3 +2])
B) the ratio of brown eggs to TOTAL eggs is 3/5 (3/ [2 + 3])
This shows that the total number of eggs should be divisible by 5 (If you want to check, set up a proportion: 2/5 = x/any number that is divisble by 5...x represents the number of white eggs out of the total number of eggs). 12 is not divisible by 5 so that is the answer (you can check this with a proportion if you want: 2/5 = x/12....you will not get a whole number answer).
