Our student's pre-reads were done during summer...they had to be done before OVs. Coaches got all transcripts/scores etc and did let student know when meeting with Admissions was being held.
Within 2 weeks of that appt with coaches/admissions, when all recruits files were read--the admissions gave green or red lights for coaches to continue...or stop recruiting.
No FinAid discussion until after the student had been on OV and only then coach had FinAid read the tax returns/forms etc (we had to submit a draft PROFILE)
The FInAid office has way too much to do to do pre-reads for FinAid unless the student is a serious recruit...and in our case the coach was the gateway for that.
