My son took the SAT in 7th grade to qualify for SET and in 8th grade through a talent search. He was able to travel to Baltimore (on my mom's dime!) for the grand awards ceremony and saw a baseball game. The ceremony wasn't exciting but he loved the baseball game. :-) He still had a life-he was unschooled until he was 12 and he still loves to learn. :-) It is possible to take the SAT early and still have time to enjoy your youth. :-)
