While the actual Common Application isn't released until August 1st, there are several things you can do now:
1) Start your Common App essay (the main essay has a "choose your own topic" prompt so there's no way you can go off-topic)
2) Prepare your resume
3) Ask teachers for recommendations
(just to name a few)
