The academic issue would be a personal decision. The good musical theatre schools vary tremendously in terms of academic ranking and even in terms of how many classes outside of the conservatory are taken. It all depends on what is important to you. My son likes all the schools and programs for which he is auditioning.
PPU offers an honors program. A dance student we know went there over some of the other conservatories because of the liberal arts education that PPU requires, so she chose it for academics over a couple of other very good dance schools.
