Essays (subject and responses): I think I did a pretty good job explaining the reasons for wanting to transfer in my Common App essay; I emphasized the positive aspects of my current school while explaining why SLU wasn't the best fit for me. For my "Why USC" essay, I got a lot of advice from one of my friends who currently goes to USC. I mentioned some of the opportunities available to me in the field of international relations (such as classes, extracurricular activities, etc.).
Letters of Recommendation: One from my Spanish professor last semester. We got along well, Spanish is one of my majors, and I got an A in the course, so I figured - why not! I think he wrote a pretty good letter. Other:
Other schools applied to: UVA (Accepted - April 27), Georgetown (Accepted - May 1), and Middlebury (Decisions released on Friday)
Comments: I'm honestly a little surprised that I got in. I really didn't pay much attention at all to the pre-reqs or GEs when choosing my courses at my current school, and I was afraid this would hurt me, but I guess as a sophomore transfer they figure I have enough time to complete them. I also took a lot of AP tests in high school, so perhaps that helped! Anyway, I'm really happy I was accepted. Now it's just waiting for the financial aid package. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear!
