| That definitely is NOT for the MT in BFA program. Talking of Emerson itself (the college, not the BFA program), their admissions rate is 48%. So, if they admit 54% in the early action round, that is only SLIGHTLY a higher admit rate than in RD. It makes sense as Early Action is NOT Early Decision. It is not a commitment to attend. It is not binding. So, Early Action lets kids know early but is not a big advantage to the college. In Early Decision, the college knows that who they admit early WILL attend and that it is their first choice school and thus the higher admit rate in the early round. So, is Early Action an advantage for REGULAR Emerson applicants? Not a real lot.
For MT applicants? not really....less than 5 get in early, I believe, to the BFA in MT Program.....but what it does is lets some know early and then some know they are OUT early (might help to know and plan accordingly) but some know they are still in the pot via deferral and some might get what happened to my D, which is admitted to Emerson but deferred for a BFA....was told that was a small amount as well.
Make sure when you look at admissions rates in guidebooks or at info. sessions for a college, that you realize they are talking of the COLLEGE, not necessarily the BFA program. For example, the BFA in MT at Penn State admits about 5%....but the admit rate to Penn State (the University) is 55%.
