My s has had so many friends major in MT at almost every school you can imagine in the country. He has seen productions at U of A and was impressed with the productions and the faculty. This program is not as well known as some of the other programs, but remember that there are a lot of students that can't or don't want to pay the tuition that some of the better known schools charge. I have been so impressed with the support that the Arizona schools get from the community and the state. There is a lot of scholarship money for out of state students for both academics and talent. The Tucson and Phoenix communities are so supportive of their respective universities (U of A and ASU) that I don't think you will see very often. I hear of so many stressed out students thinking that they have to get in to a certain school. The sunbelt has been quite overlooked on this forum but there are a lot of patrons of the arts in those communites that are so supportive of young talent. Go for it!
