I've only used Dell computers, but Macs seem more exciting and more "up and coming" if you will. With the iLife programs and all of that new stuff they just seem like more fun. Plus, though I don't really know where I intend to concentrate, I've heard that Macs are much better for video/picture editing and artsy stuff like that.

My guess is that for any college student, the bulk of time spent on the computer is on the internet (facebook has consumed me) and word processing, so with respect to that, it probably doesn't make a huge difference.
