| My dad said very uncategorically that Dell and IBM were going to be the best laptops for me to get for college. I trust his opinion a lot, since he's a really hardcore computer engineer and loves his job and reads a ton of books and in general is, simply put, quite the technology nerd. His opinion is based both on performance and on value. I ended up getting a Dell Latitude D610, which I'm extremely happy with. After my customizations, it ended up costing around $2000. I suggest getting a dock for your laptop so that setting up your workstation is a lot easier and more convenient, and it's much less hassle to detach your laptop from printer, scanner, monitor, etc. when you want to take it to class and such. |
