Exactly: this is one of the great advantages of attending an institution such as Harvard: you do get a fascinating mix of kids. What it does *not* mean is that the next poet laureate would necessarilly be admitted if there were a crop of promising poets that year. It's wonderful if you are admitted - but you shouldn't take it to heart if you are not.
