Duke isn't a school for everyone...I won't lie, b-ball games are SO much fun especially because I'm in band and I don't have to wait in line for 3 days (literally). There's a lot I like about Duke...it's a beautiful campus, great in the sciences...but...I don't like the Southern atmosphere, overwhelming presence of Greek life, and the city it's in...it's really depressing to be in Durham and the city just lacks opportunities like Boston. Nevertheless, I highly encourage you to still apply to Duke for transfer admissions. I was speaking with Chris Guttentag who is the Undergraduate Admissions Director about transferring to Harvard and the qualitiies they look for, and he said it was pretty much what Duke was looking for. Last year, Duke only took 12 transfer students so yeah...I hope the number is higher this year. I had a 4.0 in high school with tons of AP classes but my GPA this semester at Duke was a 3.6. My SAT scores might help me (SAT!: 2270, SATII Chem: 800, Math II: 780, Spanish: 760) but I really don't know. I wish my first semester GPA was higher but there's nothing I can do now (stupid chemistry class!). anyways, good luck!!! btw, Berkeley is a great school, especially for your interests.
