cathersx3: I would also highly recommend that you attend FPF over a community college. The cost of attending FPF is actually about the same as attending Berkeley in the fall, so if your family would have paid for the fall semester had you been a fall admit, I don't see why they're unwilling to pay now. FPF is $4,000 and dorms are around $5,000 a semester for a triple and $6,000 a semester for a double (this includes food). So at $9,000 it's really pretty affordable for college. You can also take a light amount of work in FPF and work during the fall semester part time. Some more ways of cutting down costs are: buying textbooks used online at amazon.com or half.com, living in a triple instead of a double, or commuting (I don't recommend that though). Anyway, just keep talking to him and try to get your other family members/family friends to talk to him too. Worse comes to worst, you'll go to CC for a semester and be at Berkeley for 7 which still isn't bad at all.
