Lenovo bought IBM's PC business about 2(?) years ago. Thinkpads are great laptops, I have a z60t that has only failed me once in the past 2 years. Tech guy came to my office the next day, replaced the bad component and I haven't had an issue since. I know nothing of their 3000 family of notebooks and probably would never get one.
If you're not getting a Mac, I'd rec a Thinkpad. HP's are good too. Toshibas used to have a good rep, I don't know how they're doing lately. Dells are not worth even looking at on a website.
If you're planning on taking the laptop out of your dorm and into the library, get something light. Lugging a 6 pound laptop around (when you see weight listings they usually dont include AC adaptor) is a PITA. |
