Can you visit and get a feel for it?
I wouldn't advise anyone to go to a school thinking they might want to transfer, but it does seem to me that it shouldn't be terribly difficult for you to transfer from Williams to Cal if Williams turns out not to be your cup of tea. It would be near to impossible to go the other way.
