anitaw, having parents which are MIT affiliated does not mean that they got in for that reason...
I mean, if you have two parents who went to MIT, there is a high likelihood they will have the genes as well as the value system to get in themselves. The admissions committee claims they do not favor people whose parents are MIT graduates. The ivies make no such claim.
The "evidence" is that Marilee Jones herself says that 15% of the class each year wouldn't have gotten in under previous standards. Also, the rhetoric coming out of the MIT admissions blog supports the view that admissions has changed.
