Back to the topic, IMO the main part of PTK or other honor ones is involvement. I myself think PTK as a club/organization where I can make some friends and do activities, therefore it benefits my EC. Being a member alone doesn't matter much. If you do nothing, it's really a scam for you because you just waste the membership fee ^^.
Btw for ppls asking, PTK is for community colleges only. If you study in a 4-year schools then I guess you have better societies to join
