| I suggest buying him a laptop. It is an investment in his education for at least four years, if you buy the right machine. My dad bought me a Macbook when I originally went off to school. The only advantage to having a laptop is its portability. I tended to not enjoy being stuck in my dorm room to write a seven page paper. So, I would pack my laptop and text books up and go to the coffee shop or to the library for a couple hours. Another example, I am sitting on my bed typing this out where as if I were stuck to a desktop I would be at my desk or in my home office. Anyways, I went to The University of Kansas for my freshman year and never really needed it for any in class work except for note taking in huge lecture halls. I think a laptop might be less necessary when I start over as a freshman at Roosevelt especially as an MT. Not to mention the cost difference..haha
