alabhya... I think good AP scores are prefered over SATs and if you can take AP take it but you're not required and if most applicants from your place do not take it, then not taking it won't really put you at a disadvantage. Just know that it's not required. As for A levels... although many schools just treat them as substitutes to a high school diploma some schools do award you credits for A levels and not only AP or IB. Although I did Edexcel, I'd say Cambridge would look better as it's more intensive (although the grading is easier). For example, MIT prefers Cambridge over Edexcel. If you're going for a top university, take four A levels, if Ivy Leagues, take five A levels and make sure you get As or if you don't... your SAT scores, if above 2200, will cover for that.
