Taking Courses and managing UC apps

I have 40 units completed in CC so far, and I'm applying to UCs this fall.

I am currently enrolled in 13 units, including one berkeley course.

All I need to take in the spring is a physical science, physical science lab, and introduction to politics.

I want to drop one class, leaving me 10 units this semester.

1. Will Cal think I'm lazy for only taking 10 and not working or will they realize I need the extra time to focus on succeeding in the Cal class.

2. How time consuming is doing UC applications?

3. Is not being a full-time student the year I apply a negative thing in admissions?
