If it makes ya feel any better, even though my D got good aid/scholarships in the RD round, we are ALSO in Parent Plus loans up to our eyeballs for both of our girls and will be for a LONG time!
My D is not singing WITH Spring Awakening but she is singing and musically directing N'Harmonics who will perform alternately I guess with Spring Awakening throughout, taking turns. I don't think she knew about the Spring Awakening part much in advance at all. She is friends with some cast members who did not mention it when she had lunch out recently but I think the particular cast members may be on vacation and would have understudies perform this evening at the event my D is performing at. By the way, NYU N'Harmonics performed this past Friday night at a sold out performance at Joe's Pub in NYC (not sure your D knew of or went to that show). Your D likely doesn't know about this evening because I think it is geared toward all the NYU freshmen as part of their welcome week, but I am sure anyone can go as it is outdoors.
PS...I think Spring Awakening will be part of this year's Tisch Gala performance as well, or so I have heard, due to several involved in the show who have ties to Tisch as alums.
