it only matters in that you need good enough GPAs/test scores to get the job you are passionate about. very intelligent people with crap GPA/test scores will not get into medical school for instance, so if you want to be a doctor you have to put in that certain amount of effort. but even then, there's hundreds of things more worthy of stressing out than grades... and if I end up not getting a GPA good enough for med school, then I'll find some other job I enjoy doing. our lives are too short to worry about grades.
