I'll bold everything I change.

Quote:
In the literature “Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde”, the character Mr. Hyde, who embodies the pure, primal evil of mankind, causes people to be utterly repulsed at his very sight. They are unable to even look straight at his face, and feel disgusted of his very sight. Those who meet him described him to severely deformed, but they are unable to identify what exactly is the type of his deformity. While everyone who meets him agree that his very countenance stirs hatred within them, they are unable to clearly give the reason why such feelings are aroused within them.
Mr. Hyde is supposed to embody in the book the very darkness that lay latent within our souls. Such extreme reactions from people upon seeing the form and face of Mr. Hyde exemplify the unwillingness of human being in recognizing the potential darkness that human beings possess. People are unwilling to directly face the primal darkness and ugliness that lay hidden within their own thoughts. When this darkness becomes real and solid right in front of them, they feel so repulsed by the ugliness of human mind that actually lay latent within themselves, controlled and nullified by civilization and human conscience.
Thus, human beings feel disgusted and resent the flaws that they themselves possess when they see these flaws manifested in others, because now these flaws becomes more real to them, forcing them to directly face and witness their own weakness.
