Get an A is harder than 5 in AP US History

In my AP US History class, one-quarter of students are getting an A. This may not sound bad. But in the past two years, over 60% of students in my school got a 5 in AP US History exams. Yet there were less than one-quarter of students got an A in both semesters.

Getting an A in the class requires averaging over 90%. Our tests (MC and FRQ) are all in AP exam level, and my teacher does not curve.

What is the standard to get an A in your school?
