As a side note, I assume that this formatted list is copied from some standard file somewhere else. While it is very useful, early candidates don't get put on a waiting list, they get deferred. Should probably change the wording on that.

Decision: Deferred

Objective:
  • SAT I (breakdown): 740CR, 800M, 740W
  • ACT: 34 composite
  • SAT II: 740 MathIIC, 790 U.S. History, 750 Chemistry
  • Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.8
  • Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 31/506
  • AP (place score in parenthesis): Human Geography (4), World History (5), Chemistry (4), U.S. History (5), English Lang & Comp (5)
  • IB (place score in parenthesis): none
  • Senior Year Course Load: AP Euro History, AP Spanish, AP U.S. Gov't, Debate, AP Microeconomics, AP Comp. Gov't, AP Calculus AB, Choir, AP English Lit & Comp
  • Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Eagle Scout
Subjective:
  • Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Debate (President), Choir (All-State), Teen Court (Advisory Board), Boy Scouts (Troop Guide), Spanish Club (President), National Honor Society, Young Republicans (President), Spanish National Honor Society, Bolshevik Club (Founder, Co-Premier).
  • Job/Work Experience: none
  • Volunteer/Community service: About 250 hrs. in total from Boy Scouts, Debate volunteering, and teen court.
  • Summer Activities: Debate and choir camps
  • Essays: Political aspirations/Community Service
  • Teacher Recommendation: Gov't and U.S. History teacher - know me well and wrote great recs
  • Counselor Rec: Equally good. Explained why class rank is lagging.
  • Additional Rec: Debate coaches explained team setting and leadership.
  • Interview: Had one, interviewer was interested in the Bolshevik Club , otherwise was pretty basic.
Other
  • State: Texas
  • School Type: Public
  • Ethnicity: White
  • Gender: Male
  • Income Bracket: Upper-Middle
  • Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): none
Reflection
  • Strengths: Strong standardized test scores with a bunch of leadership and extracurricular involvement
  • Weaknesses: Class rank
  • Why you think you were deferred: No national recognition in any event, not a legacy, class rank is modest at best.
