Soooo many people at my school applied ED to Brown (compared to usual for my school - 6 plus at least one at an alternative public school in town), and I think they all would be great at Brown. I feel like the reason the deferral rate is so high is that Brown students - at least the people from my school applying - are fairly self-selected. They know that Brown does intelligent but well-rounded and possibly a bit quirky, and every one of them, I think, would've fit great. (This applies to me too). So I think the deferral rate is so high because there are SO many people who Brown knows would do great there....there just isn't the room. I feel like deferral is used as an ED-form of GT.
I really am not seeing the trend in accepted vs deferred (at least from the postings here), which just confirms my belief that college admissions processes are crazy. But at least, to all of you out there who got deferred, we all know that this doesn't make us stupid and not good enough. Right?
