| I have a couple of really good friends in the program right now. I've heard nothing but positive things about the program.
As far as their musicals go, Tisch's mainstage musical this year was Sweeny Todd. If I remember correctly, there were twenty Tisch students in it, and 18 of them were from CAP21. Tisch tends to do more contemporary musicals, and there are rumours they are planning on doing another Sondheim show next year.
CAP21 does a couple of smaller, black box musicals each year. These are for 2nd and 3rd year students, and in the past they've done shows like Seussical, Into the Woods, and How to Succeed.
I did the CAP21 Pre-College program this past summer, and found the teachers to be very impressive. Many of them have tons of Broadway credits and they know what they are talking about. One thing I liked a lot is that they all teach the same thing (so you never get conflicting critiques) and a lot of times material will cross over between classes.
From what I've seen and what others have told me, Tisch is still a great program, definately one of the top in the nation. And how can you beat studying theatre in New York? |
