De Anza = one of the feeding tubes for UC transfers.
I think they would count in a way that it shows your interest and initiative. I do not exactly know how the UCs count this, but I know that private schools will definitely give you a few points for this. And also, it depends on the classes you take. If you take extremely easy classes (ie psychology...) just to boost your GPA, then that is not going to look as good as if you took a challenging science course. Also, on a sidenote, their physics program is supposedly the best of the community colleges and yet the classes are never full. I had a little bit of trouble trying to get into classes here in SoCal because they always full but De Anza Physics seems to scare everyone away (they got someone named Newton teaching it!). And yes, it is not a no-name community college, even here in SoCal people know about it.
