Dear vi1 Don't be dissapointed. I know how hard it is to want Cap and not get it. My son is graduating this May from Playwrights and he would not have wanted to go to anywhere. else. Playwrights will let you do Musical Theater in your Sophmoore year. Freshman year is a time to learn everything... including directing, acting, tech, dance, voice, and so on. Of all the studios Playwrights kids come out the best abkle to cope with the " real world" because they have been exposed and and trained in it all. The Main stage Tisch productions( I think there are 6) are open to all Tisch students. There are usually two musicals and the rest staright plays. Threre are also student run productions called Gap shows that are student run and are often Musicals. Playwrights also is the Directing school so it's Directing majors use all their playwrights actors in their shows which again may be musical or not. My son managed to land leads in a number of Gap shows over Cap kids. He also scored the lead in the musical Drama main stage this Fall. Now he graduates in May having finished in 3 years. Remenber if you choose Playwrights, it is up to you to create you successes! Your Studio is only the place where you train. The contacts you make at school are what is goiung to get you jobs out in the real world. PS. My son is a director and all of the actresses from all of the studios are trying to make contact with him, for t future work! Good luck on your choice of schools! I am sure you will find the school with the right fit for you!
