| Freelance,
I've been out of town for a family wedding - so I am a little behind in reading many posts. Regarding Tisch and private voice - the reason you may have heard 2nd semester is because that is when the CAP kids start taking privates. It does not kick into their curriculum until then.
I know you are trying to find out how much training your daughter will get for musical theatre? If you are really talking about a balance of classes between the 3 areas of mt, then I believe some of her other schools offer this type of package. However, If she really is looking for an acting heavy program, with a lot of options for later years,(i.e. existing and new studio options) then Tisch is perfect. Even CAP is acting based. The musical components are not as emphasized as they are in places like UM, Syracuse, Steinhardt, etc..
I've heard it over and over from administrators that Tisch/Drama (which includes CAP) mission is not to train triple threats. It is to develop each individuals artistic and creative abilities. That is why Tisch is composed of so many studio's with different focus. They really want to nurture several hundred "individuals". It is a different philosophy from many schools. Not right for everyone, but absolutely perfect for my d1 - and obviously for jasmom, camge and alwaysamom!
You are doing all the right things by talking to students from Tisch and PH.
Alwaysamom gave great advice to check out the curriculum and compare.
Your daughter has some great choices!!! I know sometimes that can make the decision even harder!
Best of luck to you and your d and if you have any other questions just write or pm me. |
