McGill is really strong in medicine and all the other science related majors. But if you decide to major in business, UBC's sauder school of business is much more highly ranked than McGill's Desautel. I don't know, personally, I think McGill is a better school overall, but UBC's business is more recognized. (sorry if that didn't ans your question, I really have no idea about IR :S)
