my college house mate was on academic probation - he had a very hard time recovering from a bad breakup, started missing classes, assignments - you get the picture. But he did graduate, on time, an honors student who also won a special distinction from his department. It was tough going, it took him many quarters of very high grades before he saw that 'honors student' designation on his grades - but he did it.
