Recently my freshman in college received a letter advising her that she had been nominated for membership in this organization, supposedly an honor society for high achieving first and second year college students.

Besides asking for a $75 lifetime membership fee, it requires a confirmation by 5/27 and mentions an induction ceremony on her campus in the fall. "Members are eligible for a wide variety of national opportunities incuding scholarships", etc.

Anyone know about whether this is for real and of any benefit? It's based out of Washington DC.

I figured this Board was the best place to get the real scoop.
