| RE Elon Honors in M/T and other majors
Can anyone give input on whether the Performing Arts/ Music Theatre programs usually have Honors students, how many, how do they manage the demands of Honors and their Major requirements?
Regarding other programs - Elon was a school completely new to us until someone recommended them to our son. The next day he received a mailer from them. It took some thinking and juggling to arrange a car trip (15 hours round trip) for their Junior Open House in April, but it seemed meant to be. We weren't disappointed. Even on a rainy morning with teenagers, all staff and students we encountered were very gracious. The motels in the area apparently were also well prepared w/ exact directions to the school. Concerning other majors, I can't speak on many. I can tell you that the student speaker to the parents was a communications/journalism major I believe? He was one of the best I've heard of any speakers anywhere. He was confident, connected, and very poised. He certainly seemed ready to enter the "real" world. He also offered a fair amount of specific info on internships THROUGHOUT his years at Elon, a program which I believe is helping Elon gain some recognition. When we returned home, we did report our impressions to folks up here. During those conversations we learned that in the north Elon has a good reputation for its sports programs as well. It certainly has a lot to offer in theatre and beyond: well worth the look! |
