My intent is not to come off as an arrogant jerk. True, us debates can be a bit pretentious, but I didnt write the adcoms saying "I'm a badass debate. You're total idiots if you dont let me in." Unlike you, neogop, I do not coe from a school with a very established nation circuit "toc" history. Last year we qualled a team to the toc in policy for the first time in our state's recent history. I have worked my ass off to get where I am. I have not had coaching and travel money handed to me on a silver platter like some debate schools. For the most part, our squad is on our own.
As for debaters not getting in to good schools, I think that might reflect how they put so much in to debate and dont balance their school work. It's certainly not uncommon for the best debaters in the nation to have a 2.0 GPA.
