that freshman class is Theatre & Society. You do have to do a scene, but it's not really an acting course.... Freshmen CAN take Intro to the Art of Acting, which is an acting class for non-majors (they also recommend it if you haven't had any previous formal training). I didn't take it, but I have a couple friends who did and they liked it a lot.

All performance concentration theatre majors take Acting I, Acting II, a directing course, and a choice of two upper-level acting classes, such as Commedia Dell'Arte and Classical Verse. The department also offers special courses; last semester they had Acting the Song and this semester there's a MT Audition Workshop. Also there's Stage Combat- every semester is a different topic (this semester is Broadsword... I really wanted to take it but I think a broadsword is bigger than me).
