Folks. These are pretty consistent with students I know. My D had a composite 32 with a 26 science and like many of y'all , she's a science geek. But she learned the "trick" - it's not a test of science knowledge. It's a test of science reasoning. Don't try to out-think the test with your superior science knowledge. Just answer it based on the data given. Everything they want you to consider is there. Next time out, still with next to zippo prep, she got a 35 composite with a 34 science. All in , all done. And remember, with the ACT score choice is your friend. Good luck.

DS did no prep (SAT state) and emerged from test saying he'd bombed the science unit. He actually got a 36 and missed no questions (to his utter utter incredulous amazement), and he ended up with a 34 composite, just behind Curm's daughter. It was, obviously, his highest score and his only 36.

I got a 36 on the science in October without even taking the test before- you just have to be quick. I got through all 40 questions and finished with a minute or so left. I didn't read any of the information - just went immediately to question number 1. I think that's why most people don't finish. They try to read all of the information given then answer all the questions. Most of the other questions that you cannot find solely from viewing the graphs, you can easily eliminate certain answers and give yourself a good shot at answering it correctly just from your scientific background - I've taken AP Biology (which helps) plus currently taking AP Physics. If you want to, you can skim the passage if you are clueless.

Ironically, I got a 29 in science in 10th grade but have been unable since then to get higher than 25 in the section.

Tribe: You are so right. That's exactly what I did (went straight to the question) and it brought my science score up from 26 in December to 33 in June. No one should bother to read the information, just skim, then go to the questions!

Lol "slightly" off topic...

The science I felt was the most difficult section. There is no time to read anything. I barely finished the test and I was afraid that it was going to hurt my score, but I ended up with a 35 on it.
