11 on Writing- Do I need a 12?

I got my ACT writing score today- an 11. This is a nice improvement from the 9 I got last time. Will an 11 look good to first and second tier schools, or should I retake for a 12? Will one point make that much of a difference?

No DO NOT RETAKE! An 11 is amazing and won't make a big (or rather any) difference if you get a 12. Besides, most schools look at it for research purposes and do not really put any value in the writing score.

There's hardly a distinction between a score of 11 and 12. No admissions officer is going to say, "Well, we should chose ____ over ____ because (s)he scored a 12 on writing!"

I have a question, now, for yourself! What'd you do to improve your score?

One thing that helped me improve my writing score was a year's difference. The 9 I originally got was from my sophomore year, while the 11 is from this year, my junior year. I currently attend a state-supported high school that offers all college classes, so I have gotten used to writing large amounts in short amounts of time. I also write on the side. My recommendation to you would be to practice writing under timed conditions. That is the best way to improve your writing.

Don't worry about it. An 11 is the same as a 12. But, above any beyond everything else, I have finally figured out why colleges don't care about the ACT essay scores. Shh... it is a secret, but i'll let you in. (The graders are on drugs). Don't believe me, then here is proof. A kid, like me, who has always been in the AP math courses and all the Honors and AI math, but always in Academic and Normal Lit courses, gets a 36 on the English section and a 12 on my essay, with only a 35 in math. If that is not lopsided, then what is? How does this make any sense? It doesn't! Someone explain it.

Well, I think ayeleswarapu, that it's pretty normal..... The english in ACT isn't too broad.......all the little grammer and punctuation isn't too hard. The ACT math, however, covers from Pre-Algebra to all the way up to Trig...... The wide broad field of formulas that one has to remeber is impossible. (still haven't got the circle's formula for plotting down) so that's what I think

i got a 10 on the may act. anyone know the percentiles for the essay? my composite for eng/writing didnt change, but i'd still like to know how well i did compared to others. i plan to retake the act btw, but again, i just want to know how i did this time around.

edit: woah, i meant to make a new topic (my topic for this post didnt mean to sound arrogant). woops. anyway, could someone answer my question.

edit2: second time reading the topic for this post, and it seems uber arrogant (notice the addition of uber). so yeah, my bad; just remember that it was meant as a new topic :O

An 11 and above ranks 99%. A 10 ranks 97%.

thanks sleepy_sentry, i didnt know how to convert the essay score into an english score, since my english score didnt change at all when my essay was added.
