Seriously... they should loosen the curve for science, or give us 45 minutes. it's way too rushed...

You should just send the 34 so they can see that you got 34 even if you do badly this time

Colleges won't even consider an ACT score w/o the writing test.. my 34 means nothing, so hopefully I can replicate it. Otherwise I'll just send my SAT..

Looking back, the science section was only hard for me because I tried to read everything before looking at the questions. If I had just skimmed the stuff then tackled the questions, I would have done so much better. Plus it was hard to simply look at the numbers and not go too in depth. Like on the genetypes questions, I thought to hard about it and somehow ended up contemplating mutualism (don't ask me how).

same thing happened to me highhopes.

took the act, got 29 composite, 11 writing.

took it again, didn't expect a good score, got 33 composite, no writing.

now this is my last chance, and I have to get as good of a score as I did before, my SAT is only 2130. Luckily I think I did better. Maybe.

On the 29 test though I had a 20 math score, and on my 33 I had a 32 math score. Things change eh?

^ It sucks, doesn't it? They shouldn't have a no-writing option. It only serves to screw people..

My SAT as of now is 2130, but I'm taking it again next week for a 2250+ so I have a safety net in case the ACT goes badly.

No way. Science should have the best curve.

I agree Jchang. When my proctor said 5 min i was incredibly surprised. I feel bad for kids who are just trying to get ok scores, that science section took a lot of incredibly quick thinking.

When I took it in Feb 07 the Reading was -1 = 36. That would be sick though if -1 on math is a 36!

Same here, one of my friends who was trying to get a decent score (~27) felt like she did horrible on the science section.

I also agree with that statement ^ I can't imagine what students shooting for average scores were thinking during the section section. I was almost lost, so I'm sure they had to be. I actually heard a few people at my test center say that they guessed on just about every science question.

And to the OP, assuming that we took the same test, I don't think there's any way a -1 will be a 36 on the math. Math was abnormally easy, so I'd expect:
-1 35
-2 34
-3 33
-4/5 32

Also, I think science will be more lenient than what you listed.

This was my first time taking the ACT. Will how many problems we missed be on our score report?

IMO a reasonable science curve would be

-0 = 36
-1 = 35
-2 = 34
-3 = 34
-4 = 33
-5 = 33
-6 = 32
-7 = 32
-8 = 31
-9 = 31
-10 = 30
