Oh my goodness I loved seeing all the preppies in the library... the whole time I was thinking, thank God, they're going to be the 4 degrees next year And thanks for saying hi Mateus! haha

It's good to hear that you all had a good time. And when I came for orientation I still feel like I got a pretty good idea of what the actual Academy is like as a four degree, even though it was after Recognition, so I know what you mean. I just can't believe we're only 3 1/2 months away from being human again!!!

"Dark Ages"? What's that refer to? The way it's so dark in the winter at the Academy?

I've looked around on that USAFA folklore wiki website in the past. It has a lot of cool stories and legends. Pretty Sweet.

not to mention it includes 40 days for the freshman, leading to Recognition, which are the 40 hardest days of the year (other than recognition)

I'm kinda looking forward to it already. (Not that I won't try to enjoy senior year while I can!)

I am not looking forward to Recognition itself, because I know I am absolutely going to die. May have paid off to be a little more of a stealth cadet. But anyhow, civies, walking at rest, wearing your backpack on your back!!! It will be worth it. And eagle, I am fairly certain that I am still going to be one of the few cadets who still smiles during the "Dark Ages." I love snow and I love the Air Force Academy! haha

Redhead you will be fine (the stairs from heaven to hell may be waiting) but you will be fine. If you are really worried about visibilty you could dye the hair a day before recognition, then they won't know who you are (Recognize you) but I am sure things will be fine. Eagle has been a little negative and scary lately.

Everything I've heard is that the difficulty of 40 days depends ALOT on your squadron. For example, my squadron is very, very lazy. They don't like training us because they have to, you know, be awake for it and all. I'm sure they'll still make recognition suck, but I doubt 40 days will be that bad

Haha, most squadrons (yes, even the lazy ones) really turn things up for Recognition/40 days. (Actually, most make things harder for second semester.)

Indeed raimius. I didn't think it could get a whole lot tougher than first semester last year, I was proven wrong! Second semester was HARD, but it made recognition so worth it. Also, having the intense training made the event itself much more bearable!

Yeah, 2nd semester last year was a whole lot better (and tougher) than 1st semester. That is when my 4* squad really came together as a team.

Sounds like the relationship between first and second semester is a lot like that between first and second BCT.
