| A Not So Serious Question Just throwing this out there to see what kind of responses this will generate.
My son will be arriving on June 26th and we have been joking about which shirt to wear. Should he wear one that:
(1) Is from Russia and has a picture of a MIG-29
(2) Is a standard USAF tee shirt
(3) Has a NASA Logo
(4) Says, "I'M HERE TO PARTY" (I'm sure the Cadre will love it)
(5) Is from Annapolis or West Point
(6) Is plain as possible - this is not the day to stand out in the crowd
Have fun with this one! |

| haha! i love those options, especially number 4 and 5. well, during orientation hornetguy and some of his buddies told me to wear clothes as plain as possible, so that's probably what i'm going to do. |

| We were going to send potter in her NASS sweatshirt, but she wouldn't have any of it. She opted for a look she has perfected annonymous...simple unmarked polo and jeans. |

| hahaha, that's pretty funny.
Pretty much any cadre who knows Russian would start speaking it to him if he wears (1).
All of the prior-enlisted cadre would never let him hear the end of (2).
EVERY cadre would walk up to him and say "so are you a space cadet" (which isn't a bad thing, just teased about sometimes) if he wears (3).
For (4)...you can guess what's gonna happen. "MY CADENCE!!!!" (that's for counting reps for exercises)
For (5)...no comment. "GO AIR FORCE!"
(6)...the right choice...except life still won't be easy, just easier. |

| HAHA! Please please please do it. That would be so much fun to watch. Having a rough I-day isn't so bad...it gives you good stories for later! |

| i would just wear layers. begin with 3 on the top. then as remarks are made, begin taking off each shirt to see more comments. when they finally see you have a plain shirt, take that off (guys only) to display a painted-on shirt about being mommy's boy
should be a great start to an AF career... haha |

| Eagle, Eagle, eagle....using Basics for amusement cannot be a part of the ODS. At least be constructive and provide a web link to a "You can't Train this" T-shirt manufacturer. |

| haha. i wouldn't even get the immediate amusement, cause i'll be at AETC this summer and Navy all semester, so i'd here about it long after. plus, it is "a not so serious answer" for a "not so serious" thread!
:P
but honestly, i went plain cause i wanted to blend in. i messed up on purpose cause i didn't want to get labeled as knowing everyhting or trying to show ppl up, but that was just my style. i've talked to ppl who have done things like weird shirts. yes, during basic, especailly I-day, you get lots of crap for it. but honestly, someone has to get it anyway, so y not keep it off other ppl? plus, it makes for GREAT stories later on.
its your choice. either way works if its what you want |

| I think some 2012er should get a shirt that says:
"I am nobody
Nobody is perfect
Therefore, I must be perfect!"
It almost works for basic... At least the first line. |
